About Annapurna Rasoi
Story behind this initiative
Annapurna Rasoi gives fresh and healthy meals to hundreds of people outside Delhi’s hospitals and slums area every day.
People who come to AIIMS hospital in Delhi to get treated, but because of the sheer number of people, there’s no place for caregivers inside the hospital. Many of them spend their nights on the road with little to no access to food or shelter. These people are from poor families and have often gone into debt trying to save their loved ones. Due to a lack of food, these caregivers fall sick themselves and are unable to look after their family members.
We wanted to ensure they were well looked after and have been feeding people outside hospitals since 2012 and we’ve seen the difference one healthy meal a day has made. Annapurna Rasoi currently feeds over 1000+ people outside AIIMS hospital in Delhi every day. They provide them with lunch that is made in a hygienic kitchen and is distributed freshly among those who spend hours waiting outside hospitals, braving the weather and anything that comes their way. Most of these people are underprivileged and struggle to afford their loved one’s treatment. However, they’ve left everything behind to travel to Delhi and ensure their lives are saved.
