Delhi Floods: Help Homeless & Support Disaster Relief Efforts

When nature strikes, it often falls on those most ill-equipped to withstand it. Following heavy rains and subsequent flooding in Delhi, many families living under the Yamuna flyover have lost everything. Their homes, few belongings, and daily livelihoods have been swept away. For these already marginalized communities, this disaster has exacerbated their struggles.

Annapurna Seva Rasoi Disaster Relief Efforts

As a non-governmental organization imbued with compassion and dedication, Cancer Care Trust has responded immediately. Through our Annapurna Seva Rasoi initiative, our volunteers are working around the clock to ensure that no one goes hungry. We are distributing freshly cooked, hygienic food in slums, reaching out to children, the elderly, and families displaced by this crisis. On average, we serve 1,000 to 1,500 people daily in these flood-affected areas.

But feeding people is only one part of our assistance. We also distribute dry ration kits to affected families so that they have the necessary ingredients to cook their own food in the absence of relief teams. These kits contain staple food items that can sustain families for several days, providing them with a cushion during these uncertain times.

Cancer Care Trust’s relief efforts during this crisis are being made possible by generous donors across India. Their support allows us to expand our operations, source fresh ingredients, manage logistics, and maintain dry ration supplies. Every rupee donated helps feed more people, reach more homes, and bring hope in times of despair.

Feeding Hope Amidst the Floods

In disaster-stricken areas, hunger can spread as quickly as floodwaters. Lack of food can weaken people physically and mentally, making them even more vulnerable to illness and despair. That’s why Annapurna Seva Rasoi not only delivers food, but also ensures it’s safe, nutritious, and distributed with dignity. Our team carefully coordinates to reach the hardest-hit areas—areas least likely to receive aid.

By combining food distribution with ration kits, we maintain continuity in relief work. Families don’t return empty-stuffed after our team leaves. This dual approach helps stabilize communities after a disaster. We also coordinate with local volunteers and community leaders to ensure aid is delivered where it’s most needed, not just where it’s easiest to reach.

How You Can Support Our Relief Work

Your support right now matters more than ever. You can help in the following ways:

  • Donate to our flood relief fund so we can continue to prepare meals and ration kits.
  • Volunteer or partner: If you are in Delhi NCR or nearby, you can assist in distribution, kitchen work, or logistics.
  • Share our message: Spread awareness on social media so more people learn about this urgent relief effort.
  • Sponsor a ration kit for a family, covering essentials for several days of food.

No act is too small. A few meals, a small kit, or even sharing our campaign helps us reach more lives in need.
